My Library
A magic place where time stands still
Where fairies live and always will
Where elephants and Piggies talk
Where cars converse and carrots walk
Where exotic places fill the shelves
and kids can go to lose themselves
Whisked away to lands unknown
Defeating dragons on their own
The first to get that special book
holding it tight, while others look
He saunters about, a smiling face
So grateful for his favorite place
A place where knowledge reigns supreme
Somewhere to read, create, and dream
The place that's worthy of a poem
My library, My second home

ReplyDeleteDarlene! I love this. I know you won't mind if I share it on Twitter.
ReplyDeleteI haven't stopped talking about your library since I left. Well, both the library and you. Your passion and enthusiasm were as cute as the place itself.
I love this poem - especially the opening stanza. Love the book references. So, so great.
What a perfect little poem! I love it! And the pictures show the real side of your whimsical words.

ReplyDeleteYOU have made that library what it is. A place for children to explore and lose themselves. A place of vanilla and clean linen smells, draped in floral framed pots with colorful blooms, much sought after rocking chairs and carefully placed pillows. Every single child and staff member recognizes this and appreciates you. The library is a place that is warm and inviting, passionate and loving.. a reflection of you. :)
