Darkness.
Pure and Utter Darkness.
My eyes desperately searching for a glimpse of light in the endless blackness.
Frozen.
My body chilled to the bone, laden with ice.
My eyes have grown weary, closing in protest.
My body, stiffening more each second, succumbs to the overpowering coldness.
Silence.
Silence.
Silence.
Light.
Flickering over my frozen eyelids.
A warm amber glow engulfing my body giving me the strength to make it through.
I feel myself sinking as I read this. So very effective is your word choice. Where we find that warm amber glow is so important.
ReplyDeleteHmmmmmmm. Giving you the strength to make it through....what? I need to know. This has me wondering.
ReplyDeleteYou write often of hope and inner-strength and perseverance. I appreciate the layers of meaning in your writing (as I interpret them, anyway). So many questions with this one.
